Beginning Volumes Now Available!
A Collection of String Music by Black and Latino Composers
The Mosaic Anthologies celebrate music by composers traditionally excluded from the pedagogical repertoire. This first set of volumes and their companion recordings feature works by Black and Latino composers from throughout history for the beginning to intermediate string player. We invite you, the listener, teacher, or string player, to explore, grow, and enjoy your interaction with the marvelous pieces assembled for you in these volumes. Available for solo and ensemble strings.
Mosaic Music Publication’s Mission:
Mosaic Music Publications aims to address the significant disparities of representation in the pedagogical repertoire of Western Classical Music by curating graded anthologies of string repertoire for solo and ensemble settings. These volumes celebrate composers who are not included in the traditional white, Euro-centric male narrative of classical music by including works written by Black, Latinx, Asian, Middle Eastern, Indigenous, LGBTQ and women composers.
Organized by Beginning, Intermediate and Advanced levels, each volume comes with a corresponding reference recording featuring artists from the same demographic as the composers represented with the intent to encourage and engage young musicians who might not currently see a place for themselves in the traditional pedagogical repertoire.
Mosaic Music Publications’ first volumes, the Beginning Level Collection of Music by Black and Latino composers is now available. By making music from a diverse population of composers readily available to those beginning their study of classical music we can make a more inclusive and inviting environment for students of all backgrounds.
